About Me

Hello, I'm Ebbie and welcome to my little, tiny dust mite in this vast blogging universe.

To start, I had zero intention on starting a blog and detailing our experiences buying and building our new home, for several reasons:

1. This isn't our first house.

2. This isn't even our first new construction home.

3. This isn't our forever home. On the contrary, we don't plan to live in the house for more than 7-10 years.

So why am I blogging about a house that I am not all that excited about buying? Well, even though we're not first timers, this is EXTREMELY exciting for us. Are you any less excited when you get a new phone, a new car, or a new gadget? Home ownership is a great adventure and it's always fun exploring new ways to decorate and to give your home unique and special character.

I decided to write this blog, because I AM excited, and for posterity and to pay it forward. I am not a first time homebuyer or new to new home construction, but I AM new to experiencing all of this in the DC Metro area, and the process, home builders, and style of home is completely new and unlike what we have/had in California. Simply put, the East Coast bloggers who took the time and patience to document their journey, educate us all on the process, and prepare us for all of the good and the bad that comes with buying homes has done us a great service, and if I can help even one person achieve THEIR dream house, then I consider it my duty.

Welcome to this blog. I hope that I'm able to make things easier for the next home buyer, and also relate my prior experiences with new construction homes, what to look out for, what's important, and to also shatter some of the prevailing myths and biases for and against new construction homes.

Hopefully this blog won't wither away and turn to dust like so many other inactive home buying blogs. I would love to share all of my house related experience with others--both good and bad--so that everyone can get an idea of what home ownership is all about. Yes, it can be challenging, scary, exhilarating, and expensive, but I think experiencing the pride of ownership is absolutely worth it.
Stay tuned!
