Our Options

I wanted to share some (poorly taken) pics of some of the options we picked, and the thought process involved in picking them. Honestly, we just wanted something that was completely different than what we had before. Shortly before we moved, we'd bought new furniture, which is a HUGE monetary investment. Since the furniture is less than a year old, it was important for us to pick out design options that would compliment the furniture.

Thankfully we were on the same page. Our last house consisted of a lot dark browns, green, orange and red. This time, we're drawn to more neutral, cooler colors, such as gray, and light blue. I am a little concerned that our house will be a little too dreary, but the good thing about going neutral is that you can always accent with pops of color.

Also, I absolutely live for decorating for fall and winter holidays, so it's important that I have colors that won't clash with those color schemes.

We decided to have the same cabinetry throughout the entire house.
New Haven Painted Stone w/oak flooring

We wanted to make sure that the countertops in both the kitchen and bathrooms matched well with the cabinetry.

Cloud White Quartz Countertops (Kitchen)

Arctic Ice Granite Countertops (bathrooms)
Kimona Silk Morning Dove Tile (rec bath/1st bath)

Bruce Oak Gunstock hardwood

Courtyard Manor Summer Moss Carpet

Kitchen Backsplash. Standard glossy white subway tile with Delorean Gray grout

  1. The quartz countertops are beautiful! I'm like you, I'd rather be able to see the gunk on my counters so I can get it swept and cleaned, but we're sticking with the granite for a while so we can spend on other stuff. We'd love to put hardwood instead of carpet on the second level, so that will be our next saving goal.

    1. I lived with granite for years and years in my old house and it's an excellent choice! I knew that if I got granite I would never change it because I'm cheap and lazy (and seriously, it never, ever wears down or ages), so I made the decision to make upgrading the countertops a priority this time around. Of course, we cut corners in other places too to balance out the cost of the quartz.

  2. I love all your selections, the color palette looks awesome. I really like the Quartz countertops, it was one of our original selections. It looks so good next to the stone cabinets.
